56Kreepy Krauly Pool Cleaner
The automatic pool cleaner was a concept begging for invention. In 1974, Ferdinand Chauvier capitalized on the idea by producing the first pool cleaner to handle it's chores without assistance from the the pool owner. A relatively simple device, The Kreepy Krauly works almost exactly like a manual pool vacuum aside from needing someone to motivate it. Simplicity and low initial cost have made it one of the most popular pool cleaners on the market. World wide acceptance ensures that parts are available for the Kreepy Krauly and repairs can easily be handled by the average pool owner.

How the Kreepy Krauly Works
The Kreepy Krauly easily connects to the suction side of the swimming pool filtration system (usually at the pool skimmer) with a vacuum hose. When the pool pump is running the cleaner moves about the pool on it's own vacuuming up trash, sand, leaves and other debris and deposits it in the pools' filter and pump basket. A large rubber skirt allows the Kreepy Krauly to adhere itself to the pool surface enabling it to climp the pool walls. A flapper valve at the intake of the cleaner diverts the water flow from one intake tube to the other causing the device to move around. The movement of the Kreepy Krauly is entirely random, as such it will frequently cover areas more than once during it's cleaning cycle. This re visiting of areas means that it has to operate much longer than a manual vacuum would require to completely cover all areas of the pool.
